The NEBDN Level 3 Diploma in Dental Nursing (RQF) Exam Format

This qualification was introduced on the 1st of July 2025 and replaces the National Diploma for Dental Nurses Course. The qualification is regulated by Ofqual in England, and CCEA in Northern Ireland and covers all the Learning Outcomes in the GDC Safe Practitioner Framework for Dental Nurses. This qualification also attracts UCAS points.

The examination is assessed in three ways and is based on a new updated curriculum.

1. Portfolio of Evidence (PoE)-allows learners to show the skills and knowledge gained within the dental  setting.

2. Externally Set & Assessed knowledge test which comprises 65 multiple choice questions in a 90 minute exam and is graded pass or fail.

3. Online Professional Discussion with an NEBDN Examiner is an assessment lasting 60 minutes, with 10 minutes reading time.
